The Institute was founded by Klaus Lohrmann with the assistance of federal and regional authorities in 1988, a symbolic date half a century after the German "Anschluss". The location of the Institute in the former synagogue in St. Poelten gave a new and meaningful use to this abandoned building.
The Institute employs the director, a secretary and seven staff members. It is our aim to counteract anti- and philo-Semitic prejudices and incorrect information through academic research, publications, lectures and activities in the area of adult education and school projects.
