Studied history and dramatics; graduated in 1998; doctorate in 2001 on Jewish legal status and antisemitism on the Imperial Aulic Court (1559–1670).

1998–2005 member of staff of the Institute for History of Jews in Austria, working on the projects |Austria Judaica| and |Of Silver Merchants and Mint Masters|.

2005–March 2007 Curator at the Jewish Museum Munich.

2007–2013 member of staff of the Institute for History of Jews in Austria, responsible for the project: |Max Grunwald and the „inventing of Jewishness“| and related projects. Since 2003 lecturer at the University of Vienna (Dep. for History).  At the moment project collaborator for the project |Entfernung. Österreich in Auschwitz| (Distance. Austria in Auschwitz, in German only).

Research focus: Jewish history in the Early Modern Period in the Holy Roman Empire, History of the Jews in Austria, legal history and cultural history.
